About Liebenspiel

Liebenspiel is a production company run by comedians Benjamin Alborough and Ellie BW. Starting in 2023 with the inaugural Weekend of Weird at the Spiegeltent during Brighton Fringe, we have continued to programme and produce smash-hit and format-breaking comedy. We love to champion experimental and out-there comedy experiences. We love the alternative, the cult classic. We love to work with performers to help get their biggest, wildest comedy ideas on the stage.

In 2023 we kicked off our Bedlam Late programme during the Edinburgh Fringe, a curated lineup of late-night alternative comedy, prioritising one-off weirdness from established and up-and-coming creatives which we continued in 2024 in addition to running a week of late night programming at the King's Head Theatre. In 2025, we produced Soft Play Area and Andy Barr's full-length Edinburgh Fringe runs, as well as several shorter runs including cult favourites Late Night with Terry Wogan, Hot Rubber and Mr Cardboard. In 2026, we programmed our first "Long Weekend" of comedy at Leicester Comedy Festival, programming and producing 20 shows, for which we were nominated for the Spirit of the Festival Liberty Award. We have also programmed a week-long festival at the King's Head Theatre, London, collaborated with Up After Dark to programme the first iteration of Up After Dark Festival at the London Hospital Tavern and taken shows to the first ever Rik Mayall Comedy Festival as part of their curated programme in 2025.
